Main methods of treating oncological diseases at the Humanitas Oncology Center.
The TrueBeam system is a revolutionary technology that combines the best of the latest radiation techniques used in the treatment of malignant tumors: IMRT, IGRT, Gated RT and others. Today, this is the most high-tech equipment, actively used in the Italian Humanitas network.
Gamma knife is a radiosurgical device that creates a high dose of radiation that acts strictly in the designated target volume of the brain. It is used to treat vascular malformations, malignant or benign neoplasms.
RapidArc is a high-precision radiation therapy technology used to treat malignant tumors with increased safety for the body. A linear accelerator with beams of "modular" radiation is used, which allows focusing on malignant tumor tissues with millimeter accuracy.
Edge is one of the most advanced systems for the prompt implementation of high-precision non-invasive surgical manipulations in the treatment of tumors. Today, it is used in the Humanitas network of private clinics for the treatment of oncology of the lungs, brain, spine, and other parts of the body that are difficult to treat surgically.

Leukemia
Leukemia is a blood cancer that starts in the tissue that forms blood. It affects the white blood cells, important part of the immune system that fight off infections. In leukemia, abnormal white blood cells are produced. These abnormal white blood cells accumulate in the bone marrow and prevent the production of other important blood cells. Most of the problems associated with leukemia are caused by the lack of normal cells in the blood, rather than the leukemia cells themselves.

Breast Cancer
Breast cancer develops in the breast cells. It can develop both in men and women, although it is more often in women. The breasts are made up of fatty connective tissue and thousands of tiny glands called lobules, which produce milk. The milk, in breastfeeding mothers, is delivered to the nipple through tiny tubes called ducts.

Other treatments
Lymphoma is a cancerous neoplasm that affects lymphatic tissue, damaging internal organs and causing enlargement of lymph nodes. Timely examination and professional treatment significantly increase the chances of recovery. And the Humanitas clinic provides patients with a full range of services.
Modern practice proves that the formation of metastases in the liver structure is fixable. With a timely and correct approach, it is possible to completely eliminate metastases, if possible, preserving normal liver function, and return a person to a normal lifestyle.
Pleural mesothelioma is a malignant cancerous neoplasm. It is extremely rare - 1 case per 100,000. The success of treatment largely depends on the promptness of detection and the accuracy of diagnosis.
Lung cancer is a common oncological disease that arises from the cells lining the lungs and bronchi. The disease can gradually develop over many years and is not always limited to the lungs. Metastases are common. Treatment must be immediate and comprehensive.
Thyroid cancer occurs when cells grow unusually fast. The disease is quite rare, and doctors' prognosis when it is detected is generally positive. This cancer is usually detected at an early stage and is easily treated.
Stomach cancer is the most common oncological disease of the digestive system. The tumor develops from the mucosal epithelium and can be located in various parts of the stomach. Timely detection and proper treatment provide high chances of recovery and no relapses in the future.
Prostate cancer is a malignant neoplasm that most often occurs in men over 55 years of age. In the CIS countries, the disease is in 4th place in terms of frequency in oncology. In Western European countries and the United States, it is even more common. Prostate cancer develops slowly and does not manifest symptoms for a long time. And it is very important to detect the disease in time to begin treatment.
Liver cancer develops directly from liver cells or can be a metastasis of another cancer. The second option is observed much more often, which is why treatment includes removal of the primary tumor. Details about the symptoms of the disease, risk factors and treatment methods are further in the article.
Pancreatic cancer is a malignant neoplasm that develops from exocrine cells. Men are more susceptible to this disease and it is less common than cancer of other digestive organs. However, due to its aggressiveness, it requires immediate and comprehensive treatment.
Bile duct cancer is an oncological lesion of the bile ducts, which often manifests itself with abdominal pain, high temperature and jaundice. The disease is quite common and requires immediate professional treatment according to an individual program for each patient.
Ovarian cancer is a tumor lesion of the hormone-producing sex glands in women. The survival threshold is high - up to 90% with early detection of the disease and proper treatment. Today, the Humanitas network of private clinics provides clients with comprehensive diagnostics and professional treatment of ovarian cancer using the latest technologies and involving specialists from various medical fields.
In the 21st century, carcinoma is the second most common cause of death after heart disease. The Humanitas private clinic network provides carcinoma diagnostics and treatment services using the latest techniques and involving leading oncologists and specialists in other fields.
