Hypospadias is an anomaly that can only be treated surgically, and any form of hypospadias requires a demanding surgical intervention. In particularly complex and challenging cases, two surgeries may need to be planned for hypospadias repair, with 4 to 6 months between surgeries. Penoscrotal, scrotal hypospadias, perineal hypospadias and previously poorly operated hypospadias are generally planned for two operations. An assessment of whether two operations are needed is given during the first examination.
Correction of hypospadias includes:
Correction of the ventral curvature of the penis
Formation of the final part of the urinary canal
Reconstruction of the glans penis
Reconstruction of the skin of the penis
Reconstruction of the skin of the scrotum
Hypospadias is not treated before the age of 18 months.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and lasts up to 2 hours. The hospital stay is one day.
After the operation, there is a stent (tube for flushing the urinary canal) in the urethra, and a Cystofix (for draining urine) in the bladder.
Postoperative dressing with bandages that prevent swelling and hematoma (Coban) is performed every other day.
Two weeks after the operation, all the bandages and stents are removed, and then urinating on the tip of the penis begins.
One day after the start of urination, Cystofix is removed.
Patients receive aesthetically natural, fully functional, permanent results of surgical treatment of hypospadias with only one operation, which is often referred to as the "Perovic Hypospadias Repair" operation. The degree of complications when using the techniques of Prof. Dr. Sava Perović's case of hypospadias is extremely small.
Epispadias is a congenital disorder of the urogenital system that is treated exclusively by surgery. Depending on whether the form of epispadias is with or without urinary incontinence, the approach to the treatment of the anomaly also differs.
Any form of epispadias requires a complicated surgical intervention that includes:
- Bladder neck correction
- Correction of the dorsal curvature of the penis
- Formation of the urinary canal
- Reconstruction of the glans penis
- Reconstruction of the skin of the penis
- Reconstruction of the skin of the scrotum
Epispadias is not operated before the child is 18 months old.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia.
The duration of the operation is about 3 hours.
The hospital stay is one or two days.
Postoperative dressing is performed every other day.
Two to three weeks after the operation, all bandages and stents are removed, and when urination begins on the tip of the penis.
One day after the start of urination, Cystofix is removed.
Patients receive aesthetically natural, fully functional, permanent results of epispadias surgical treatment with just one operation, often referred to as the "Perovic Epispadias Repair" operation. The degree of complications when using the techniques of Prof. Dr. Sava Perović's case of epispadias is extremely small.
No matter how old you are, whether you have never been operated on or have been operated on unsuccessfully - it is not too late to have your epispadias repaired so that you can continue to enjoy a good quality of life.
