BREAST CANCER: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

October 15 is World Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Traditionally, the entire month of October is dedicated to raising awareness about this disease.

"Pink" October serves as a reminder of the importance of timely prevention of the most common form of cancer, which ranks first among women's cancers (16% of all cancer cases).

Women at high risk include those who:
🔸 Have a family history of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or fallopian tube cancer.
🔸 Have undergone radiation therapy in the chest area.

Breast cancer can be cured. If diagnosed early, the chances of full recovery are as high as 94%. High-quality equipment plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate diagnosis.

If suspicious masses are found, a mammologist will recommend additional tests, including a biopsy, to rule out or confirm a cancer diagnosis.

Doctors recommend:
✅ Women under 40 should have an annual breast ultrasound and mammologist exam.
✅ Women over 40 should have an annual mammogram, breast ultrasound, and mammologist exam.
✅ All women should perform regular breast self-examinations regardless of age.

Disease statistics:
✔️ Breast cancer occurs in all age groups. Statistically, 1 in 8 women is at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
✔️ Globally, 1,250,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year.
✔️ The likelihood of developing the disease increases sharply after age 40 and continues to rise with age.
✔️ For every 100 cases of breast cancer in women, there is 1 case in men.
